Personal development, health and physical education

Personal development, health and physical education (PDHPE) is mandatory from Kindergarten to Year 10.

According to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA), students are expected to participate in PDHPE for between 1.5 and 2.5 hours per week in Kindergarten to Year 6.

PDHPE provides students with opportunities to explore issues that are likely to impact on the health, safety and wellbeing of themselves and others – now and in the future. Students also participate in challenging and enjoyable physical activity, improving their capacity to move with skill and confidence.

At Manly Vale Public School we currently have a number of teams entered in Friday afternoon P.S.S.A sports competitions throughout the year.

Summer Sports - Terms 1 and 4

Winter Sports - Terms 2 and 3

Weekly training is generally held on Friday morning at 8.15am at the school.

During term 2 this year we are enrolled in the Sports In Schools Australia program on a Friday afternoon. This is being offered to all students from K-6 who are not involved in PSSA sport. It provides the children with a range of opportunities to develop a variety of PD.H.PE skills with a diverse range of resources. The program is delivered to the students by specialist teachers.
