Our canteen provides fresh, healthy and affordable food choices that support students throughout their school day. You can easily view our menu, check opening hours and learn how to place an order for your child.

Our Manly Vale canteen is proudly recognised as a NSW Healthy Choice Canteen, offering nutritious, affordable meals that support student wellbeing. We follow the NSW Healthy School Canteen Strategy by promoting healthier choices, limiting less healthy options and encouraging water as the drink of choice.

Managed by our P&C and powered by generous volunteers, the canteen provides recess and lunch orders as well as over-the-counter service each day. All food aligns with the Department of Education Healthy Food Strategy, with a delicious range including fresh sandwiches, salads, hot meals and locally made sushi. The canteen is nut-free and offers vegetarian and gluten-free options, ensuring there’s something for every child.

Canteen opening times

The canteen is open for recess and lunch orders each day. We are also open at lunch for over the counter purchases. If you need to get in touch with us you can send an email to manlyvalepscanteen@gmail.com

Orders can be placed up to 8.50 am each day. If you happen to forget, there is a limited late lunch menu to select from, available for orders until 10.00am.

Order from our canteen

Ordering from our canteen is simple, convenient and designed to make school mornings easier for families. Lunch and recess orders can be placed online through Flexischools, giving you a quick and reliable way to ensure your child receives a healthy, delicious meal. Please ensure you receive an order confirmation so you know your order has been successfully submitted for the correct day. And don’t forget to let your child know they have a lunch order waiting for them, otherwise they won’t know to collect it at break time!

Students can also make over-the-counter purchases at lunch. With fresh options and a smooth ordering system, our canteen makes healthy eating an easy part of the school day.

How your child receives their order

Recess and lunch orders are collected directly from the canteen.

Students in Kindergarten to Year 2 have their orders handed to them by our canteen staff, while Years 3–6 students pick up their orders from the canteen collection bench. If a student has ordered a frozen item, they simply bring their lunch bag to the canteen and show it to staff to receive their treat.

Over the counter service at lunch

We offer a range of drinks, frozen treats and healthy snacks for students to buy at lunchtime. Some items, like our frozen fruit and homemade ice blocks, are only available over the counter. While availability may change, there’s always something delicious on offer.

Purchasing from the canteen also gives students a chance to practise real-life skills like choosing items within a budget and counting change. Most snacks are priced between 20c and $3, so only a small amount of money is needed.

Emergency lunches

Occasionally a student requires a lunch unexpectedly from the canteen. The canteen will provide a simple lunch and follow up with an email to parents requesting payment for the emergency lunch. We ask that you make payment for these quickly so we can continue to offer this service.

Want to volunteer?

We always welcome volunteers; parents, grandparents and carers. Your child will love seeing you there, and it’s a wonderful way to support our school community. Visit the P&C Website (link below) to learn more about volunteering your time for our amazing canteen.

Get involved

Volunteer shift times:

- 9:00 am to 11.00 am (Mon- Fri): Involves helping make/prepare the recess and lunch orders.

- 12.30 pm to 1.30 pm (Mon-Thurs): Help serve at the counter. Help the children collect their lunches and serve lots of yummy snacks at the counter.

- 12.00 pm to 1.30pm (Friday): Help getting all the Friday lunches out and getting ready for busy Friday counter service. Fast paced yet lots of fun.
