Bushlink

Bushlink is a program that helps the environment and also raises awareness of working with people who have intellectual disabilities. Some of the students of Manly Vale from years 3 to 6 had a great time participating in this program and we didn't even have to leave the school. We learned about how to communicate with someone with an intellectual disability and it was no different to talking with a person without a disability.

We had a great time weeding the garden beds down the front and planting some beautiful flowers such as sunflowers that are already blossoming and we also planted carrots and tomatoes. When we had finished planting everything we had lunch with them and they were extremely nice and had taught us a lot of things. We loved hanging out with them and learning that they are no different to us and can do everything we can do. And here is a link to the website so you can learn more www.bushlink.org.au
